Paul Warren has posted another picture int he User Gallery. I'm going to hang this one in the Hall of Mirrors itself, just inside the front door next to the box office. Nice one Paul.

Gratifying Result

Submitted by mike on Sun, 03/01/2009 - 19:04

News update. The text of Episode 6 is nearly ready to record, so I'll probably get down to that in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, I notice that both here (especially here) and on U&F.Com, the comments are slowing down a little. This can lead to despondency on my part, and I was getting the old 'Is anyone listening?' blues for a while there. Then I checked iTunes, US, UK and Australia and was gratified to learn that people evidently are, which is nice. I took this snap of the UK iTunes Literature chart front page, where now both U&F and Hall of Mirrors are on the front page.

That's a great result, and well worth celebrating (reaches for gin and pickles) well worth it indeed. Thanks for all your comments and kind words on iTunes, and please, don't hide your light under a bushel on this site or U&F.com, without your comments the sites are just me talking, which from my point of view, is a bit like talking / writing into the silent telephone (if you can write into a telephone that is).

Chapter 17 Second Draft Finished

Submitted by mike on Mon, 02/23/2009 - 13:42

I've been on the couch writing all day. I finally got Chapter 17 finished but this meant I didn't get any recording done. I'm into the day job tomorrow, but I'll definitely record the next ep tomorrow. Thanks for your patience :-)

Water Drilling

Submitted by mike on Sun, 02/22/2009 - 19:33

I attempted a recording of Episode 5 of U&F today but I couldn't seem to find a quiet enough space in the apartment. The room I usually use is the bedroom, which isn't great at the best of times (echoey, plus passing trains, planes, busses, etc) but worse, since it seems to be below our neighbours' toilet and bathroom, it has days times when it's just plain unusable - and today was one such day. The sound of someone peeing directly into the toilet bowl (sounds like liquid power drill... whatever that ight be) then flushing, then running a bath and sploshing around in it while singing (I kid you not) 'Danny Boy' - these are not ideal background sounds for a podcast episode (other than Sometimes, but that's on hiatus right now).

Anyway, hopefully our singing neighbour will be at work tomorrow and I can use my day off to record our next thrilling instalment. I'll let you know how I get on.

A Day on the sofa. Chapter 16 version 2, done.

Submitted by mike on Wed, 02/18/2009 - 09:53

After a gruelling one-minute yoga workout, I spent most of today sitting on the sofa hammering out the second draft of Chapter 16. I've just finished it and am now going to have a cup of tea before going out to the supermarket to buy something for dinner. Wild, wild life, baby.

Return to the day job (briefly)

Submitted by mike on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 17:22

I went back to work today, only for four hours, but it was really nice to be out of the flat and working face-to-face with people again. The weather was also good, there was definitely a breath of spring in the the air. Tomorrow I'm off work again, so I hope to get some writing done on the second draft of Chapter 16 of U&F.

Feedback on U&F episode four has been very favourable, so thanks to all who 'fed back'; most of it came through email, U&F.com and Facebook sources, though this site has remained strangely quiet.
