OK, so by now the episode is due and a few of you are probably checking in here to see if there's any sign of it. I've been working on the text for ages and now the first draft is finally done. It's taken a long time to write because it's very difficult material and there's a lot of it. I don't think it's going to need a great deal of work because I edited as I went (sometimes I just hammer out pages in a stream-of-consciousness, other times I go slowly - this time I went slowly). The text is twice the page-count of a usual episode, so Episode 21 should be more-or-less about an hour in length. I'm going to do the final editing tomorrow and then begin recording.

If I'm lucky I'll get a first audio draft of the whole thing done. Then it's editing and re-takes for a couple of days, then I'll post. So it's looking like a weekend delivery. I can't say when for sure, it depends on the day job and all the other variables that strew our paths with obstructions and place spanners in our works.

I apologise for the delay. But like the song says, you can't hurry love. On the up side, I think the wait will be worth it: it's a killer episode. I thank you for your patience :-)

sorry about posting a comment unrelated to this episode in this space im new to the website as of tonight but caught on to u a few weeks ago. i typed in horror stories to search in itunes and ur stories came up, well i started on Hall of Mirrors and listened to the first story TROLLS. i have been hopelessly addicted to your work since that afternoon and have listened to you, only u , for days going on weeks now. i am self emplyed so fortunatly i have the great luck to not have anyone bothering me to listen to the radio and the crap that is on hour after hour. well i finished "one among the sleepless" 2 days ago, and since then have turned on a number of people(more than i have fingers and toes) to that story. what a masterpiece. mr bennett i have read countless horror stories and u hgave created something new in my eyes. i was blown away, eagerly awaiting the next episode and then the next and next. i cannot stress enough how f***ing amazing your stories are. the writing and performance, and to me the performance is something that is lacking in 99.99% of all audiobooks. u get the words but who cares right when u have someone just reading pages. with u there is an eeirie connection to the listener, somehting that draws u in(maybe u have a lil of what lord underwood has) lol. mr bennett i cant thank you enough for the incredible work of art you are creating with "underwood and flinch". im a huge dracula fan, ive gone out of my way to find rare off the wall vampire novels and when i discovered you were doing one well, xmas come early when i saw that. keep up the awesome works of horror and fear that u create

Purpose

Hi Erik

Thank you so much. It's great to hear how much you have been enjoying my output. Sometimes I forget what I'm doing in life, by which I mean, I get confused as to whether my first priority is to my job and day-to-day life, or writing and podcasting, which is (thanks to my amateur status) little more than a hobby. However, when I get comments like yours, I get a fresh sense of purpose and I lose interest in everything else in favour of writing and podcasting. As soon as I've finished this, I'm going upstairs to finish the line editing of Episode 21 and then I'm going to record it. I'll lock myself in that room and I won't come out until it's done!

Thanks again, I hope to continue to entertain you for many years to come.

In a perfect world I would be Lord Underwood, or atleast a next in line Finch. But Alas im not. At least I can prance around my job with hoodie, cloak and ipod in tact listening to my fantasy of being in your novel. Please allow me to express my gratitude for your genius sir. As soon as a hard copy of your novel is available I will salivate over the idea of owning it until the day comes when I can afford such an item. Then, oh and then when It finnally arrives, (by bat I assume), I shall spend countless hours doing naughty things, bedroom things to it, or ill read it and dream. Whichever you prefer...eh hem. Anyways Mike good show sir and congrats on all your success and genius.

Your friend standing right behind you, or in your refrigerator, whichever you prefer.

Thanks ZechAirah

for a great motivational shot in my arm :-) As I say to Erik above, knowing that what I do matters to people is what makes me work harder at it. I can't say exactly when the book of U&F is going to come out. I suspect now that It'll be a complete volume rather than a two-parter, so most likely the release will be next year when 'Part Two' concludes.

Much of Part Two is written, but changed by the Butterfly Effect I mentioned on Episode 19, and so needs to be re-written. Also, other, completely new scenes need to be written (because they've come to me over the course of podcasting Part One and they are, I now realise, absolutely essential) and grafted onto the existing structure. In fact, the only thing unchanged from the original version written in 2008, is the ending, which is sacred.

So, all that said, the novel should be winging its way to you - by bat, of course - in 2010.

I thank you :-)

Excited

I'm suprised how much I've been waiting for this eppisode! I never thought I'd actully end up dreaming about Underwood and Flinch, (in which dream David steals Lord Underwood's halloween candy, it was very amusing.) I'm extreamly excited to see what happens and how this is supposedly only half of the novel. I'm pretty sure I'm rambling so too put it all together "Hooblah!!!"
